Ringo Matsuri Returns!

Congratulations to TaikoVentures Sponsored Vocationist Stuart Paton and Burlington Taiko for hosting the first Ringo Matsuri since the COVID-19 shutdown.

On September 30th, TaikoVentures Sponsored Vocationist Stuart Paton and Burlington Taiko welcomed about 60 members of the taiko community to celebrate the triumphant return of Ringo Matsuri. Held biennially for almost 30 years prior to the pandemic, this year’s event was attended by members of Yamaneko Taiko (University of Vermont), Gendo Taiko (Brown University & RISD, Providence, RI), Kings-Don Taiko (Kingston, ON, Canada), Ame no Ato (Montreal, QC, Canada), Shima no Taiko (Montreal, QC, Canada), Odaiko New England (Arlington, MA), B.R.A.T.S. (Boston, MA), and Miyako Taiko (Washington, DC). After sharing songs, dancing, and eating apples together at nearby Shelburn Orchards, the group gathered at the Burlington Taiko Dojo for even more taiko. Special thanks to Evan Tam for his hard work putting this together. (Photo credits: Tomoko McLaren and Abena Oteng-Agipong)
