Inaugural LegacyLab a Success

Our LegacyLabs project aims to provide unique opportunities for the taiko community to interact with the most celebrated pioneers of North American taiko. The series opened with Senior Vocationist Kenny Endo teaching his signature piece, Symmetrical Soundscapes.

On September 9th, we hosted Kenny Endo to teach his iconic piece, Symmetrical Soundscapes, for the first time in a public workshop format. While working through each section of the piece, he spoke about the origins of the phrases within them, which are influenced by Kabuki, Edo Bayashi, and Brazilian Samba. The program served (19) in-person participants, (3) in-person observers, and (35) virtual observers.

TaikoVentures’ LegacyLabs project aims to provide unique opportunities for the taiko community to interact with the most celebrated pioneers of North American taiko. Additionally, we want to help our pioneers pass on their signature repertoire while maintaining the integrity and intent of their artistry. Stay tuned for more opportunities to participate in LegacyLabs with our Senior Vocationists!
