Hybrid Edo Kotobuki Jishi Classes with Ai Matsuda

January 7 - February 18


Taiko Center of the Pacific will be hosting TaikoVentures Sponsored Vocationist Ai Matsuda for 6-weeks in Honolulu, Hawaii. Ai will be teaching three different parts to EDO KOTOBUKI JISHI (江戸寿獅子) – the Lion Dance of Edo. Classes will be offered simultaneously IN PERSON in Honolulu AND online via ZOOM.

Class Schedule

SUNDAYS (January 7 to February 18; no class on February 4)

Note: All times are in Hawaii Standard Time (CLICK HERE for a conversion tool)

  • 9:00-9:55 am – Lion DANCE (舞)
  • 10:00-10:55 am – Shimedaiko & Okedo SET DRUMS (太鼓)
  • 11:00-11:55 pm – Atarigane (当り鉦, hand held gong)

Classes are held in the Chorale and Band rooms at Washington Middle School, 1633 King Street, Honolulu, HI 96826. CLICK HERE for parking and campus map.

Cost for the 6-week course is $150 in-person, or $90 online.

You may take one, two, or all three classes. Online drop-in classes are also available (previous experience required) for $25/session.
